Our AML and Verification Policy

Every account we hold is covered by the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing framework attached to our Malta Gaming Authority licence (MGA/B2C/314/2023). On this page we explain, in plain terms, what we verify, when we verify it, and what we ask of you.

Our Commitment to AML Rules

Bluebetz Casino operates under licence number MGA/B2C/314/2023, issued by the Malta Gaming Authority. That licence binds us to the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTRs) administered by Malta's Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU), together with the EU anti-money-laundering directives in force in 2026.

We apply these rules to every player, without exception. Our compliance programme includes customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious-activity reporting, staff training and periodic independent audits. Where we suspect that funds connected to an account stem from criminal activity, we are legally obliged to file a report with the FIAU. We are also prohibited from telling you when such a report has been made, a restriction known as the tipping-off prohibition.

We launched in 2026 with a simple position on financial crime: prevention is a design requirement of our platform, not an afterthought. Verification, monitoring and reporting run continuously in the background of every session you play.

When We Verify Your Account

Verification points

We verify your identity at three defined points. First, at registration, when we run your details against electronic identity and sanctions databases. Second, before your first withdrawal, when we confirm your identity, address and payment method ownership. Third, at any point afterwards where your cumulative activity reaches a threshold or your behaviour triggers an enhanced due-diligence review. If your cumulative deposits exceed £2,000, or a single deposit exceeds £1,000, we may ask you to complete full verification earlier than your first withdrawal.

You can also complete verification voluntarily at any time from your account dashboard. Doing it early means your first withdrawal is never held up by paperwork.

  • Government-issued photo ID: passport, driving licence or national identity card, valid and unexpired.
  • Proof of address: a utility bill, bank statement or council tax bill dated within the last three months, in your name.
  • Proof of payment method: for a debit card, a photo showing the first six and last four digits with the middle digits covered; for PayPal, Skrill or Neteller, a screenshot of your e-wallet profile showing your name; for bank transfer, a bank statement showing the transaction.

Document standards

Documents must be legible, complete, in colour and show all four corners. We accept files in JPG, PNG or PDF format up to 10 MB each. Edited, cropped or filtered images are rejected automatically.

How Verification Works

Step by step

The process takes place entirely inside your account, and most submissions are cleared within 48 hours. Our verification team reviews every document manually; automated checks handle the initial screening only.

  • Open the Verification section of your account dashboard.
  • Select the document type and upload the file from your device.
  • Our screening system checks the document for validity and tampering.
  • A trained compliance officer reviews the submission against your account profile.
  • You receive an email and an on-site notification with the outcome.
  • If a document fails, we tell you exactly why and what to resubmit.

How we protect your documents

Documents are transmitted over TLS encryption and stored on servers located within the European Union, access-controlled and segregated from our operational systems. Only members of our compliance team can open a verification file, and every access is logged. We never sell, share or expose your identity documents to third parties, and we do not use them for marketing purposes of any kind.

When We Ask About Source of Funds

Source-of-funds checks are a statutory requirement, not a judgement about you. We are obliged to understand where the money you play with comes from whenever your activity suggests funds beyond what your profile indicates.

We may request evidence of source of funds when your cumulative deposits within a 90-day period exceed £10,000, when a single deposit is materially out of line with your previous activity, or when our monitoring systems flag an unusual pattern. Acceptable evidence includes payslips, employment contracts, pension statements, sale contracts for property, dividend statements or audited business accounts. In some cases we may also ask about the source of your wealth, meaning the origin of your total assets rather than a specific transaction.

These checks are confidential. The information you send is reviewed by senior compliance staff only and is stored separately from your general account record. A source-of-funds review does not appear in your game history, and completing one has no effect on your bonuses or loyalty status.

Monitoring Your Deposits and Withdrawals

What we check

Our systems screen every deposit and withdrawal in real time, around the clock. We look at transaction size relative to your history, frequency, the direction of funds, the payment methods used and connections between accounts. Alerts are reviewed by our compliance team the same working day.

We operate a same-method rule: withdrawals must generally return to the same payment method you used to deposit, up to the amount deposited. Any winnings above your deposited total can be paid to a verified method of your choice, provided that method is in your name. Where a deposit method cannot accept withdrawals, such as Paysafecard, we pay out to a verified debit card, e-wallet or bank account instead.

Withdrawal hold points

A withdrawal can be held in three situations only: pending verification, an open source-of-funds review, or a triggered monitoring alert that requires manual confirmation. When a hold applies, we notify you by email with the reason and the expected resolution time. Our e-wallet withdrawals are processed within 0 to 24 hours, debit card withdrawals within 1 to 3 business days, and bank transfers within 2 to 5 business days once checks are complete.

If Verification Fails

If your documents are rejected, we tell you the reason and give you 30 days to resubmit. During that window you can continue to play, but withdrawals remain blocked. After 30 days without valid documents, we suspend the account: deposits and play stop, and the balance is held in reserve until verification is completed.

If we cannot establish your identity, age or location, or if our checks indicate a restricted jurisdiction, we close the account and return any verified balance to a payment method in your name. The same applies where a source-of-funds review is refused without reasonable grounds. Funds from an account closed on suspicion of money laundering may be held while we discharge our reporting obligations to the FIAU.

You can appeal any restriction by contacting our compliance team at [email protected], marking your message for the attention of the Money Laundering Reporting Officer. We answer appeals within 5 business days.

How Long We Keep Your Documents

We retain verification records and transaction data for five years after your account is closed, as required by the PMLFTRs and our MGA licence conditions. After that period, documents are permanently and irreversibly deleted.

Retention exists for one reason: it lets us answer lawful requests from the FIAU, the Malta Gaming Authority, the police or the courts during an investigation. If you close your account, you can request a copy of your data at any point during the retention window under your GDPR rights, and you can ask us to correct anything inaccurate. Deletion before the five-year window ends is not possible for verification records, because the legal obligation to retain them sits with us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to verify my identity before I can deposit?

No. Registration screening is electronic and instant, and you can deposit and play before submitting documents. We must complete full identity, address and payment verification before your first withdrawal, and we may ask for documents earlier if your deposits exceed £2,000 in total or a single deposit exceeds £1,000.

How long does verification take?

Electronic screening is instant, standard document review takes up to 48 hours, enhanced due diligence up to 5 business days, and source-of-funds reviews up to 10 business days. Most players clear standard verification within 24 hours.

Why can I only withdraw to the method I deposited with?

Our same-method rule is an anti-money-laundering requirement designed to stop funds being routed through accounts that did not supply them. Winnings above the amount you deposited can be paid to another verified method in your name.

What happens if I refuse a source-of-funds check?

We suspend withdrawals and, if the refusal stands, close the account and return your verified balance. We cannot lawfully let play continue where a statutory check has been refused.

Are my identity documents safe with you?

Yes. Documents are encrypted in transit, stored on EU-based servers with access restricted to our compliance team, and every access is logged. We never share them with third parties for marketing or any commercial purpose.
